director . writer . creative producer
Vivieno Caldinelli has been a wiener his entire life…. He collects mint in box video games, continues to horde action figures, and since the age of nine still vows to one day learn karate for revenge purposes.
Through it all, somehow Viv has managed to apply his childlike obsessions (and fears), unique energy, and rare comedic vision into being one of the most in-demand comedy directors in Canada; Nominated and winning multiple Canadian Screen Awards, Canadian Comedy Awards, and having his films invited to top tier film festivals around the world including Berlin, Sitges, Fantastic Fest, and the Toronto International Film Festival.
This year Viv was at the helm of two films, the award winning horror-comedy hit Portal to Hell!!! starring the late great Roddy Piper, which had it's premiere at the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival, and feature film Go Jump in the Pool with writer Adam Barken (Killjoys) and Aircraft Pictures (Todd and the Book of Pure Evil, The Breadwinner). Currently, Vivieno wrapped up on his role as director/executive producer on the fresh new half-hour sketch comedy pilot Humantown for CBC. In 2015 directed the epic 2-part episode of the Emmy Award winning series Odd Squad guest staring the The Kids In The Hall.
Between productions, Vivieno has directed the last 4 seasons of the Canadian comedy institution, This Hour Has 22 Minutes. The iconic show has thrived on prime-time Canadian television for an incredible 23 consecutive years.
In the years prior, Viv was a creative producer/director respectively on Canadian television sketch-comedy cult hits; Hotbox and Picnicface. Both shows continue to find a loyal new audience on Hulu, CraveTV... And probably Pirate Bay.
