Vivieno Caldinelli is an LA based director and secret Canadian.
He exclusively directs and writes comedy, horror, horror-comedy, and comedy-horror. Viv is an obsessive video game collector, speaks Esperanto, and loyal 49ers fan for over 35 years. Over the past 15 years, he has managed to apply his childhood obsessions, fears, and rare comedic vision into being an award winning director.
Currently, Vivieno is developing his second feature film as a director with co-writer with Matt Watts, Portal to Hell!!! Based off the short film of the same title. The short has won 11 international awards and played in over 100 film festivals around the world.
While Viv’s experience spans both narrative TV, and feature films, he is one of Canada’s premiere sketch comedy directors. Working with some of the most successful comedians and troupes in North America. On Facebook and YouTube his sketches for Canadian Comedy Institution, This Hour Has 22 Minutes have over a combined 40 Million views.
Most recently Viv directed the dark comedy feature film, SEVEN STAGES. The film’s stellar cast includes Kate Miccuci, Sam Huntington, Dan Harmon, Mark McKinney, Maria Bamford, Dana Gould, Jon Dore, Rhea Seahorn, and Taika Waititi. The movie is slated for a fall theatrical release and produced by Company X (Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah, and Josh C. Waller) and MarVista Entertainment.
Vivieno’s other notable work is MacDonald Hall Trilogy of feature films GO JUMP IN THE POOL, THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING AT MACDONALD HALL, and THE WIZZLE WAR. The trilogy can be found NETFLIX. On the TV front, Vivieno was a director/executive producer on the fresh new half-hour sketch comedy pilot HUMANTOWN for CBC, and directed the epic 2-part episode of the Emmy Award winning series ODD SQUAD guest staring The Kids In The Hall.
Most notably, Vivieno has directed the last 5 seasons of Canadian longest running prime-time comedy THIS HOUR HAS 22 MINUTES (CBC), which has thrived for an incredible 27 consecutive years.
In the years prior, Vivieno was a producer/director respectively on Canadian television sketch-comedy cult hits; HOTBOX and PICNICFACE with Executive Producer Mark McKinney. Both shows continue to find loyal new audiences on Hulu, CraveTV (Canada)... And probably Pirate Bay.
